By Hanna-Katrina Jędrosz

Built in 1963, Skrunda-1 is a former Soviet military town in Latvia which has been entirely deserted since 1998. Strategically important to the defence of the Soviet Union, during the Cold War there were two radars nearby which enabled surveillance of the West and objects in space. From the series The Green Ribbon.
