L'amour lui-même doit s'endormir III
By Lynda Laird
"This project L'amour lui-même doit s'endormir was made on a residency in Deauville, France in June 2016, the results of the Brexit referendum were announced whilst I was there. Having just graduated from my MA, I had been selected alongside 9 other European students to make a body of work about the town, this then became part of the Planche (s) Contact Photography Festival. It was a great opportunity, it was funded, all the students and professional photographers shared a villa together, we cooked, discussed ideas and drank wine. There were two prizes for the students, one of which I won, I was then invited back the following year on a fully funded residency to make another body of work. Sadly after 2016 they stopped inviting UK students to apply for this residency."
